Violent week in the metro area capped with four people shot in Algiers

NOPD is investigating a shooting in Algiers that left three people hurt. Another shooting in Algiers took place a short while later at around 6pm. It is believed to have occurred in the 3700 block of Garden Oaks Drive. No further details are available at this time.

These are the latest shootings is a very violent week in New Orleans. Police have reported at least seven different incidents Monday through Thursday.

One non-fatal shooting: The Metropolitan Crime Commission reported one non-fatal shooting incident for the week ending September 14, 2025.
Algiers triple shooting: On Saturday, September 20, three people were shot in the McDonogh area of Algiers.
French Quarter shooting: On Friday, September 19, police responded to a shooting in the French Quarter near Governor Nicholls and Decatur streets.
Gentilly fatal shooting: A man killed in a Gentilly shooting earlier in the week was identified on Thursday, September 18.
Seventh District fatal shooting: The NOPD investigated a homicide on Thursday, September 18, in the Seventh District.
New Orleans East double shooting: On Wednesday, September 17, two men were wounded in a shooting on Wilson Avenue in New Orleans East.

NOPD data shows, however, violent crime is still down dramatically from this time last year fatal shootings are down by forty percent, non fatal are down by seventeen percent
