A fiery car crash in Mid City involving an RTA bus caught on dramatic cell phone video.
It happened Tuesday about 11:40 pm when the Regional Transit Authority bus was making a left turn onto North Carrollton Avenue at Orleans Avenue before a car smashes into the broad side of the bus.
Kyle Melancon lives in the area and when he heard the crash happen, he grabbed his cell phone and began recording just as the bus and car burst into flames.
"I was just in my house and heard a loud bang, wondered what that was,” Melancon told WWLTV.
"I could see a tiny little flame underneath the bus that I think was the car, then catching the bus on fire,” Melancon said. “The little tiny flame turned into an outright gigantic fire for a little bit there.”
There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash. Authorities say EMS took the bus driver and two people inside the car to the hospital. Their condition is unknown. Police say the driver of the car was cited for the crash.
The NOPD and RTA are investigating.
