On Monday, former New Orleans City Councilman Jason Williams is officially sworn in as the city’s District Attorney. Williams ran for the position after D.A. Leon Cannizzaro announced he was retiring.
Williams won the seat in a runoff election, beating out over former judge and interim D.A. Keva Landrum.
Williams’ inauguration is shadowed by the possibility he could face a federal jury on 11 counts of tax fraud. Williams pleaded not guilty to those charges last July.
