Despite being almost five full months removed from Hurricane Ida’s devastating journey across the state of Louisiana, a lot of areas are still wanting for repairs. But a group of educators in St. Charles Parish are finding a light-hearted way to poke fun at the continued wait for new construction while also celebrating the holiday spirit.
With Mariah Carey’s ubiquitous Christmas classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” once again taking its now-annual place atop the pop charts, the song has been repurposed as a plea for one special gift from the big, bearded guy in red: a new roof.
“Make my claim come true! All I want for Christmas is a roof!” goes the refrain in the parody tune posted to social media.
The song is performed by a five-piece including New Sarpy principal Rebecca Matherne, St. Rose principal Shonda Honor-Harris, Superintendent Ken Oertling, Public Information Coordinator Mason Dauphin and Senior Secretary Anissa Colly-Steib, backed by an instrumental track from the original Mariah Carey version.
You can have a holiday laugh and enjoy their rendition above. Mariah Carey's chart-topping original is posted below.
