A viral video on social media has New Orleans fire officials and State Fire Marshal alarmed.

The video shows a man standing on a balcony and using what appears to be a flamethrower similar to Elon Musk’s Boring Company’s flame shooting gun.

It happened Saturday in the 900 block of Royal Street in the French Quarter according to WWLTV.

Because of recent dry weather in the area, the State Fire Marshal has issued a Burn Ban across the state.

The flamethrower stunt has local and state fire officials concerned. New Orleans fire code prohibits “open flame devices” in the city without a proper permit. No one was hurt in the dangerous spectacle.

Glade Bilby, President of French Quarter Citizens, tells WWL’s Tommy Tucker the stunt puts the entire French Quarter at risk.

“That is how little fires start,” Bilby explains. “Something happens somewhere and you can’t get to it to put it out and pretty soon blocks are in flames. And the other thing that is making it worst is that people are parking everywhere on the corner, into the street, on the sidewalks, so if you need to get a fire truck through there…you can’t make the turn, you can’t get through the street. So, it adds to a really dangerous situation that we have down here of non-compliance that we are talking about.”
