Louisiana received the first FDA approved COVID-19 vaccine today.
Governor John Bel Edwards joined healthcare leaders at Ochsner Health Monday morning to watch the first administration of the vaccine to healthcare providers and frontline workers.
Ochsner Health is among the first tier-one hospitals in the country to receive the Pfizer manufactured COVID-19 vaccine.
"This week we are going to receive 39,000 doses over three days, so today, tomorrow...Tuesday... and again on Wednesday," said Governor Edwards.
Edwards says the Moderna manufactured vaccine is expected to be administered in the state sometime next week.
