New Orleans Police are hoping security video of an armed robbery will help them find and arrest the culprit.
The crime happened in the pre-dawn hours of Thursday, July 23. Police say the victim was walking on Elysian Fields Ave. near Marais St. shortly after 3 a.m. when a man on a bike approached.
The video shows him grabbing a woman's purse. A group of people nearby then appear to confront the man, but immediately back off when he aims a gun at them.
The robber then climbed back on his bike and road away.
"The perpetrator is described a Black male, approximately 5'7" tall with a medium build, dark complexion and short braids or twists," said police. "He's believed to be about 25 to 35 years of age and was wearing a transparent orange rain poncho and a black shirt."
