As we get closer to the peak of this year’s hurricane season, we’ll probably start hearing and seeing storm predictions and models. If this season plays out like the past two, that notorious cone of uncertainty will be popping up on our screens pretty frequently. But that cone and those forecasts are often predicting impacts for regions or general areas.
Q-risq is a Slidell based company specializing in address specific aspects of hurricanes and tropical storms. It’s rolling out a new app which the company’s founder says can scientifically depict how a storm impacts a particular property before, during and after landfall.
Unlike traditional weather predictions which often focus on general areas and regions in the path of a storm system, Q-risq is taking a more micro-approach to these big weather events. It utilizes a “supercomputer” to produce its data. Its engineers and meteorologists are confident they can tell you what will likely happen at your home if/when the next storm strikes. They’re so confident, they’re offering their services to Slidell residents for free this hurricane season.
