Crews have reopened the I-12 in St. Tammany Parish after shutting down miles of the interstate amid raging flames Sunday night.
"I12 is open. St. Tammany Fire District 3 continues to monitor with drones," Northshore fire officials posted. "No homes are in danger at this time. No evacuation orders in place."
Authorities say, however, the still want people to let them know if they spot smoke or flames.
" We encourage our citizens to call 911 if they see fire."
They also urge everyone to take steps to prevent starting more wildfires.
"DO NOT BURN OR THROW ANY CIGARETTES OUT ANYWHERE."
Teams had shut down Interstate 12 in both directions between HWY-59 (Abita Springs Exit) and HWY-434 (Lacombe) after flames spread right up to the roadway.
