Williamsville, NY (WBEN) Williamsville Schools announce a change in the K-12 model for reopening schools.

The district says "Teachers will not provide LIVE synchronous instruction simultaneously to students in the remote and hybrid settings. This means all students in Group A or B will receive in-person instruction two days a week, virtual instruction on Wednesday, and engage in independent at-home learning on the two days they are not in the classroom. If your child will be participating in the remote online learning model at the elementary, middle, or high school, they will have a District teacher providing LIVE synchronous virtual instruction daily, as well as asynchronous learning, and independent practice. If your child is enrolled in the remote online learning model, they will receive virtual instruction five (5) days a week. As a reminder, the deadline to select our remote online learning model is Wednesday, August 26, 2020."

The district defines each category as:

In-Person: Students are physically in school and receiving instruction.

Remote On-line Learning: Students in Groups A-C are not in school but are learning LIVE synchronously, asynchronously, and independently from home. Group A: Last name A-L Group B: Last name M-Z Group C: English Language Learners Reminder: Group D students in self-contained classes (8:1, 12:1, 15:1) attend school in-person five (5) days a week.

Independent At-Home Learning: Students engage in independent at-home learning. Teachers will develop and provide print, video-based, and digital resources that students will access in addition to teacher-provided assignments, projects, and other work students are expected to complete to reinforce and advance their learning.
