NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this morning at the intersection of Mayo Boulevard and South I-10 Service Road that left one person dead.
At about 9:01 a.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a person laying down in the street at the location.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
The victim was declared deceased on the scene.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
