A Boutte man is facing vehicular homicide charges in connection with the death of a Metairie woman.
The crash happened early Tuesday morning on I-310 near the Hale Boggs Bridge.
State troopers say Brogan Fremen was driving drunk when he rammed his pickup truck into a car carrying Deysha Carter and her boyfriend. The impact of the crash sent Carter's car off the road into a guardrail, narrowly missing going off the bridge. Fremen's truck flipped.
Carter suffered critical injuries and died at the hospital. Her boyfriend suffered serious injuries, but he is now out of the hospital.
Fremen suffered minor injuries. In addition to the vehicular homicide charge, Fremen is also facing first-offense DWI, reckless operation, and vehicular negligent injuring charges.
The crash remains under investigation.
