Troopers say a woman is dead after walking into traffic late at night in Arabi.

"On January 18, 2026, shortly after 11:30 p.m., Troopers responded to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on LA-39," Trooper Danny Berrincha explained in a news release.

He says 43-year-old Lisa Doucet of Arabi was crossing the street with a red light.

"The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2015 Dodge Caravan was traveling west on LA-39, approaching the intersection of Rowley Blvd, with a green traffic signal displayed. As the Caravan traveled through the intersection, Doucet was walking north on Rowley Boulevard, crossing LA-39 west."

Berrincha says Doucet was in the crosswalk when the Caravan hit her.

"Doucet sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died."

The trooper says they do not think the driver was under the influence, but standard toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis.
