Police in New Orleans say a woman was shot Thursday morning in a popular section of Bourbon Street.
Authorities say it happened at about 2:28 am in the 400 block of Bourbon Street. They say the 32-year-old woman was with a male friend when she and the friend got into a verbal altercation with another man before it escalated to a gunfight. The woman was shot in the leg. She was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
This shooting comes as non-fatal shootings climb in New Orleans. According to New Orleans City Council’s Crime Dashboard, shootings in the city have jumped in 2021 to 247, representing a 65% increase over last year’s 149 shooting incidents.
