A woman wanted for questioning after police say a toddler fatally shot himself with her gun has surrendered, WWL-TV reports.
Police say the three-year-old boy was visiting New Orleans from out of town, with his mother and ten-year-old brother.
"The shooting occurred inside of the residence," said NOPD Sgt. Ron Howard. "The gunshot wound was determined to be self-inflicted by the three-year-old from an unsecured, loaded firearm."
Sgt. Howard says the gun belongs to Tatisha Refuge, the woman renting the house in the 2200 block of Willow Street. He says she tampered with evidence and fled the home after the shooting.
The child died at the hospital Saturday night.
