WWL-AM/FM has been nominated for one of the nation's highest broadcast honors.

WWL is among the five finalists for the Marconi Award for News-Talk Station of the Year. WWL previously won that award in 2007. That same year, WWL made history by winning an unprecedented three Marconis in a single year, taking home the Legendary Station of the Year and Medium Market Station of the Year awards, as well.


The other stations nominated in the News-Talk Station of the Year category are WABC-AM/New York, KFI-AM/Los Angeles, WTOP-FM/Washington, and WCCO-AM/Minneapolis.

Finalists for the Marconi Awards are selected by a team of national broadcasters. Winners are decided by a vote of the National Association of Broadcasters' Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy.

The NAB established the Marconi Awards in 1989 to recognize stations and inviduals who exceel in the radio medium. The Marconi, named for the inventor of radio broadcasting, Guglielmo Marconi, are consiered to be one of the most prestigious honors in all of broadcasting.
