The WWL family is sad to share that we have lost a long-time member of our team.

Bradley J. Luminais, Jr. has died from cancer. He was 45.

He co-hosted the All State Sugar Bowl Prep Football Roundup the past five years after participating in the show as a reporter for some 15 years.

"Brad Luminais was a homegrown treasure in our community.  He’s been a fixture on WWL’s Friday night 'Prep Football Roundup' for almost two decades, first as a reporter covering the games," WWL Brand Manager Diane Newman said. "For the past five years Brad produced our coverage and he and Allen Waddell co-hosted with Coach Lou Valdin live from a key high school football matchup.  Nothing brought Brad more joy.  Brad loved New Orleans.  He was a proud alum of LSU and Jesuit. And despite a career as a prominent Metairie attorney, Brad Luminais  lived for high school football. Our hearts go out to Brad’s family.  His passion and spirit will live on Friday nights here on WWL.”

Waddell said, "Brad was such an important person in my life, and I am thankful that high school football and WWL brought us together. I learned so much from Brad in our years together on Friday nights. My heart breaks for his family and all the people that Brad touched throughout his life, because I know he impacted so many."

“Brad was a great friend, father, and professional," Valdin expressed. "His coordination with Allen and myself, as well as the reporters and the Sugar Bowl made our Friday night show the best high school football show in the country. I will dearly miss him.”

Luminais was born in Metairie and enjoyed a successful career as an attorney with Kutcher, Tygier and Luminais in Jefferson Parish; where he was a partner at the firm.

He earned both his law degree and his bachelors from Louisiana State University.

LSU awarded Luminais one of the most prestigious scholarships, a Top 100 Scholarship. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Arts in Mass Communication.  He went on to enroll at LSU Law School where he served as the Student Body Executive Vice-President of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, and he was also elected Class Representative and Civilian Society Vice-President.

While at LSU, he received the Recreational Sports Award and was also a member of the LSU Power Lifting Team, the Public Relations Student Society of America, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Golden Key National Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Brad focused his law practice in the areas of trucking defense, insurance defense, corporate casualty and personal injury defense.

"His knowledge, work ethic and proven litigation skills allowed him to be promoted to Senior Associate status in a short time of only three years and Partner within five years," according to the firm's website. "Brad possesses an AV Preeminent Martindale Hubbell rating, which is the highest level of professional excellence, and he has tried cases before judges and juries at both the state and federal level. Brad is also a graduate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy’s Deposition Skills Program, Expert Deposition Skills Program, and Trial Skills Program.

Brad and his wife, Brandy, had two children; Brady and Beau.
