WWL Radio wins four Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

The Radio Television Digital News Association has announced that WWL Radio has won four Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards.

The RTDNA honors outstanding achievement in broadcast and digital journalism.


"Among the most prestigious in news, the Murrow Awards recognize local and national news stories that uphold the RTDNA Code of Ethics, demonstrate technical expertise and exemplify the importance and impact of journalism as a service to the community."

WWL won four Regional Murrow Awards for 2026.

  • WWL's Breaking News Coverage for the broadcast of the terrorist attack on Bourbon Street on New Year's Day.
  • WWL's Continuing Coverage of the ten inmates escaping the New Orleans Jail and the ensuing months-long manhunt and investigation earned top regional honors for Continuing Coverage.
  • WWL's reporting on the impact of the Super Bowl won the award for Best Sports Reporting.
  • RTDNA also recognized WWL's website, social media and other digital products for the Best Digital award.

All four awards are now advancing to the National Murrow Award competition and are under consideration for National Murrow Awards.

RTDNA says, "Murrow Award-winning work demonstrates the excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession."
