“If you want to come see us, please come,” said Joey LaCoste of the MadHatters Mardi Gras parade, which will feature WWL Radio staff this Saturday starting at 5 p.m. in Jefferson Parish.

LaCoste, the CEO & founder of Louisiana Dental, is the captain of the Magical Krewe of MadHatters parade along with his wife, Gwen. Bobby Hebert and Mike Detillier of SportsTalk and WWL’s Scoot will also be in the parade, along with the Voice of the Saints, Mike Hoss.

Bobby and Mike went over the route and their plans for the event this week on SportsTalk.

“It’s so appreciative of which you piece together here… [a] family-oriented parade” said Detillier of the Jefferson Parish community. “And it means so much to so many people. A lot of people maybe don't want to go to the city for a parade.”

For LaCoste, one of the main reasons to organize the parade is to give back to the community and help support Christian charities.

“We’re really excited about the charities we work with. This year, we’ve expanded to three charities. We’ve got – and it’s all about the kids, you know – I mean, we have Make-A-Wish Foundation on one float, we have Children’s Hospital another, and this year we have the Demario Davises.”

According to LaCoste, parade-goers can find Bobby Hebert, Mike Detillier and Mike Hoss on the Devoted Dreamers Foundation float.

The Magical Krewe of MadHatters parade has an “Alice in Wonderland” theme and it rolls through Metairie, La. It also showcases the “Family Gras” tradition.

“The krewe uniquely features ‘music’ from well-known bands actually riding on floats and magical entertainment that will capture your imagination with special lighting and dazzling costumes (many adorned by some your favorite local celebrities, who are a part of our Krewe),” according to the parade website.

This year, musical guests include Vince Vance and the Valiants, 11 marching bands and more. Vince Vance is also set to serve as the parade’s MadHatter.

“Dress warm,” said LaCoste. “I hear it’s going to be a little chilly.”
