The Zulu Lundi Gras Festival is underway until 6:30 this evening in Woldenberg Park located in the French Quarter by the Mississippi River.

It's a free event that's open to the public.

The festival, hosted by the more than 800 members of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club, features music from three stages, with what promoters say is an exciting day that also includes food, arts and crafts along the riverfront.

The event continues until the arrival of the Zulu King and Queen aboard a Coast Guard vessel where the royals will meet up with Rex and New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell.

Visitors will get an up-close look at the various Zulu Characters.
