LSU player claims cops 'violated' him

LSU

LSU wide receiver Koy Moore is accusing Baton Rouge police of violating him in search of a gun he did not have.

"I was violated numerous times even as going as far as trying to unzip my pants in search of a weapon that I repeatedly told them I did not have," Moore said in a statement.

He says when he tried to live stream the video to protect himself, police allegedly "snatched" his phone.

Moore says he believes the officers may have killed him, if he hadn't told them who he was.

"I could've lost my life and I know for a fact nothing would have happened to the guys who did it," he wrote.  "If I didn't tell those incompetent officers that I was a LSU football player there's is no telling if I would've been here to tell the story."

He says the officers pulled their guns on him and screamed at him, "assuming I had a gun and drugs."

LSU has issued a statement.

"The university has been made aware of an incident involving student athlete Koy Moore. Both LSU and Baton Rouge Police are investigating the incident, and we echo the sentiment shared by Coach Ed Orgeron," the University said on Twitter.

Coach O said he could not comment on the investigations, but did write, "I can say that we must work collectively to embrace our differences."

He called Moore's allegations "serious" and said, "We have to listen, learn and come together to combat social injustice and racism."

Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome released the following:

"My office has been made aware of a situation concerning BRPD and an LSU student. Upon notification, I have been in contact with Chief Paul, who has assured me his department is thoroughly investigating this matter and he has been in touch with the student.

We take these allegations seriously and will await the findings of the investigation. We will get to the bottom of this situation and keep the lines of communication open with the community."
