Minimal impacts anticipated from Hurricane Delta in Southeast Louisiana

With Hurricane Delta on a forecast track to hit Southwest Louisiana, the greater New Orleans area is not expected to see severe impacts.

The National Hurricane Center now says the city and surrounding area will see less than one inch of rain from Delta.

The National weather service says there is just a 5% chance of flash flooding in Southeast Louisiana.

As for wind, there is still a chance of some gusts over tropical storm force, but the odds of that are low. The Hurricane Center now says there is a less than 40% chance that the New Orleans area will see any winds over 39 miles per hour.

Storm Surge could still be an issue for some areas outside of the levee protection in Southeast Louisiana.  Forecasters say water could rise two to four feet in most coastal areas with up to six feet from the mouth of the Mississippi River to Port Fourchon.
