The search for a snake has shut down the Mall of Louisiana.
The St. George Fire Department was summoned to locate a missing python in the Baton Rouge shopping mall Tuesday morning, according to SGFD spokesman Eldon Ledoux.
During the search, the mall has been shut down due to public safety concerns.
The python most likely originated from the Blue Zoo Aquarium of Baton Rouge, a new feature of the mall that opened in early 2021.
Officials told a local TV outlet they voluntarily closed their store for the snake’s safety, and identified the reptile as Cara, who is non-venomous and often used in shows with children. Cara is a Burmese python and is “very large,” at about 12 feet long.
