A salmonella outbreak in pre-cut cantaloupe has now killed 10 people, according to the CDC.

Additionally, another 302 people at least have become sick after ingesting the infected fruit, which was served in long-term care centers and childcare facilities.

The elderly population and young children are the most at-risk individuals when it comes to salmonella exposure, according to data from the CDC.

The first instance was reported in October. Since then, over 36,000 cases of cantaloupe have been recalled.

The affected fruit was sold under the TruFresh and Pacific Trellis LLC brands.

The CDC is currently recommending that you avoid eating any cantaloupe if you can’t identify who packaged and sold it.
