A high-speed chase in Alabama had a surprising conclusion early Thursday morning when law enforcement officials finally cornered their quarry and found a 13-year-old boy behind the wheel.
It was about 2:45 in the morning when police spotted a 2007 Lexus driving on the wrong side of the road in Mobile, Ala. The Mobile Police Department says the car took off when officers tried to initiate a traffic stop.
The chase that ensued would eventually reach 100 miles per hour as the offending driver tried to escape.
The driver was eventually done in when police put spike strips in his path. When the tires on the Lexus blew out, the driver lost control, and the car crashed into a curb.
Police made the arrest and charged the driver with attempting to elude police, according to the arrest report.
So far it has not been made known who owns the vehicle he was driving.
