3 officers shot near downtown Houston, police say

Three officers have been shot in the 2100 block of McGowen St., according to the Houston Police Department.

They say the suspect has fled the scene in a white Mercedes and is being looked for at this time. The HPD added that people should avoid the area.

The officers were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Houston police gave an update and said that all three injured officers are in stable conditions.

Houston Police Chief Troy Finner will provide a briefing with details of the incident at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Medical Center.

The shooting happened Thursday afternoon, as initial reports from police indicate that officers were responding to a disturbance call at 2:40 p.m. in the 1500 block of Tralle Street when a chase ensued, according to ABC 13.

They have reported that the suspect has been identified as Roland Caballero. He allegedly began a shootout with officers after crashing on McGowen St.

Police are actively searching for Caballero, who they initially said fled the scene.
