(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Air Conditioner repair crews have been a little crazed lately with the intense heat.

All Temp Heating & Air Conditioning has doubled up on crews working on-call for off-hours.

General Manager Andrew Mehrholz said the calls have been non-stop.

“Typically, a customer will call in and say, ‘you know, I have my thermostat set to 68, and it’s not getting below 75.’ My first advice would be to go down to that furnace room. If that filter is dirty, that would definitely be a time to change that,” Mehrholz said.

“Your second step, take a look at that outside unit, and if you can see any debris or dirt or cottonwood even, surrounding that outside unit, that could be a great time for you to wash that unit down because what that is doing is not allowing the unit to run efficiently.”

He said some have waited for the heat wave to replace units. Have them serviced twice a year, he said, and there won’t be any surprises.
