President Joe Biden is getting blasted by the mother of a murdered nursing student following a State of the Union flub where he attempted to say her daughter’s name but got it wrong.
Laken Riley, 22, was killed on the campus of the University of Georgia last month. Her alleged killer is a migrant worker, 26-year-old Antonio Ibarra.
Ibarra has been linked to the murderous Tren de Aragua gang along with his brother Diego. A third brother, 24-year-old Argeinis, was also arrested in the wake of Riley’s murder, according to FOX5 Atlanta.
Despite his gang ties, Antonio Ibarra was in the U.S.
legally because he was on parole, which is not a prohibition to crossing the border.
Biden spoke of Riley’s murder during his speech, at which time Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene of Georgia yelled out, “Say her name!”
“Lincoln — Lincoln Riley, an innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal,” Biden responded, even though he had in his possession a button given to him by Greene with Laken Riley’s name on it.
“To her parents, I say my heart goes out to you. Having lost children myself, I understand,” Biden continued.
Despite that message of sympathy, Riley’s mother was incensed at the mistake, calling Biden “pathetic” on social media.
“Biden does not even KNOW my child’s name – it [sic] pathetic!” Allyson Philips wrote Friday on Facebook, commenting on a post about the Laken Riley Act passing.
She also added “Amen!” under a comment that referred to Biden as “a disgrace of a president.”
Laken Riley’s parents were invited to attend the State of the Union by Republican Representative Mike Collins but declined.
“Therefore, the seat reserved for my guest will remain vacant to honor Laken and all American victims of illegal alien crime,” Collins wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Biden also drew criticism from the left and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who said he should have called Ibarra “undocumented” rather than “illegal” during his remarks on the murder.
