Breakfast snack packs recalled across the country from Kroger and Meijer

Breakfast snack packs sold at Kroger and Meijer stores in several states were recalled this week, according to a notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. They are called “Berry Buddies, Berries & Pancakes” from Naturipe Value Added Fresh LLC.

These 2.1-ounce, bento box style snack packs were recalled due to undeclared wheat and eggs, which can cause allergic reactions. Naturipe announced the recall Tuesday and the FDA published a notice Wednesday.

“People who have allergies to WHEAT and/or EGGS run the risk of serious allergic reactions if they consume these products,” said the FDA.

States where the snack packs were sold include: Arkansas, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, Minnesota, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Mississippi, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. They were usually found in refrigerated sections produce and deli departments of the Kroger and Meijer stores. Impacted products were marked with lot #1097901 on the top with an expiration date of 2/25/2025.

As of Wednesday, no illnesses had been reported in connection with the “Berry Buddies, Berries & Pancakes” snack packs. Per the FDA, the recall was initiated after incorrect labels – without wheat and egg allergens listed – were found on the back of the packages. A total of 694 cases were recalled.

“Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a production label changeover failure which has since been corrected,” said the FDA.

Any customers who have a wheat or egg allergy, or sensitivity, should not consume the product if they purchased it. They can dispose of the snack packs or return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.

“Consumers with any questions may contact the company at 1-239-598-6045 or info@naturipefarms.com,” the FDA said.

This isn’t the only recent pancake-related recall. Audacy reported that Quaker Oats Co. also recalled 10,000 boxes of pancake mix because it contained milk, a potential allergen, that was not declared.
