NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Brooklyn woman running late to a “Thomas the Tank Engine” event in Connecticut was arrested over the weekend for speeding over 100 mph with her toddler in the car, state police announced Wednesday.

Just after 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Connecticut State Police troopers were conducting traffic enforcement on I-95 north in Madison when they spotted a dark-colored SUV hurtling down the left lane.

Troopers clocked the SUV’s speed to be 102 mph and conducted a traffic stop, and the operator pulled over in the center median.

Danielle DaSilva explained to the officers that she was speeding because she was rushing to get her 2-year-old to a “Thomas the Train” event in Essex. She was driving with an adult male passenger and her child was in the back seat of the SUV.

DaSilva, 37, was placed under arrest and charged with reckless driving, reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor and failure to stop on the right side of the road.

She was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on May 16.

“Day Out with Thomas: The Party Tour” held a train ride adventure at Essex Station over the weekend to celebrate the beloved children’s franchise’s 80th birthday.

Tickets included a train ride with a life-sized Thomas the Tank Engine and access to a day of activities including live entertainment, photo ops with Sir Topham Hatt, lawn games and a pop-up gift shop including exclusive Thomas swag.

The event is also running May 3 and 4.
