
Carl Weathers, best known for his role as Apollo Creed in the Rocky franchise, has died. The actor was 76.
The actor’s family confirmed his death in a statement, adding that he “died peacefully in his sleep.”
Weathers played Creed in the first four “Rocky” movies. He also starred in 1987’s “Predator” and 1996’s “Happy Gilmore” among others.
Most recently, Weathers appeared in the “Star Wars” series, “The Mandalorian.”
Before he came to fame on the silver screen, Weathers played college football at Long Beach City College and San Diego State. He went on to play for the Oakland Raiders for two seasons.
