Louisiana Republican U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy was one of seven Republicans who voted to convict Donald Trump of inciting the attempted insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6.
“Our Constitution and our country is more important than any one person. I voted to convict President Trump because he is guilty,” Cassidy said in a statement released shortly after Saturday's vote.

Fifty-seven members voted to convict Trump, but 67 votes were needed for the two-thirds majority required by the U.S. Constitution.
