It's time to check your fridge!

A multi-state recall has been issued for different types of cheeses that might be contaminated with listeria.

The recall from Paris Brothers, a specialty foods company based in Kansas City, Missouri, includes eight varieties of cheeses sold in nine different states.

Recalled items include: Cottonwood River Cheddar, D'amir Brie Double Crème French Brie, Milton Prairie Breeze White Cheddar Style, Milton Tomato Garlic Cheddar, Paris Brothers Mild Cheddar, Paris Brothers Colby Jack, Paris Brothers Pepper Jack, and Cervasi Pecorino Romano.

The recalled cheeses were produced May 4-6 and sold at grocery stores in Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Nebraska, South Dakota, Mississippi and Florida. Individual retail outlets may have relabeled the packages.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the Food and Drug Administration revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Anyone with recalled products can return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
