Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was, at one point, one of Donald Trump’s most staunch allies.
However, in a new interview, Christie said he’s grown tired of what he feels is Trump’s constant laundry list of complaints.
“I think that no leader who is backward looking is a leader who can be victorious. And I’m tired of hearing about his grievances,” Christie said in a new interview.
Christie added that he thought Trump’s Presidential campaign rally in Waco, Tex. – his first rally of 2024 – was a “snoozer.”
Trump’s “act is getting very old,” Christie said, adding during a chat with ABC’s “This Week” that he was also irked by the former President’s Mar-a-Lago speech following his arrest.
“That sounded to me like a guy that you’d encounter in a bar who you’d wind up sitting next to and he’s griping to you about his bad divorce,” Christie said.
Christie is rumored to be mulling his own bid for the White House in 2024, an election whose Republican field could be littered with former Trump allies, including potential campaigns for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former Vice President under Trump Mike Pence.
Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, who served as Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations, has already officially declared her candidacy for 2024.
