An Academy Sports + Outdoors store in Lafayette, LA.,allegedly fired one of its managers, a disabled veteran, for trying to stop a theft.

One of the company's strict policies is to not make any attempt to stop a theft in progress at a store.

The former manager was seen in a viral video attempting to stop a woman from stealing a backpack full of items as she tried to leave the store.

The video of the employee stopping the woman from stealing can be seen here.

The manager had worked for Academy Sports + Outdoors in three different states over 10 years after being medically discharged from the Army after she suffered a shoulder injury.

In the video, the woman trying to get away with the theft was stopped by the manager and even punched her after the backpack was grabbed out of her hands.

The incident reportedly occurred on Jan. 10, and the manager was terminated by Academy Sports + Outdoors a week later. She had reported the incident to her manager and to Lafayette police. The company has not responded to requests for comment.
