Disneyland may be the "happiest place on Earth," but a recent wedding between two self-described Disney fans was apparently far from it.

A Reddit post in the AITA forum (Am I The A**hole) has taken social media by storm in recent days as a couple asked if they were wrong for using money meant to cater their wedding to instead hire actors in Mickey and Minnie Mouse costumes to appear, leaving guests hangry in their wake.

“My fiancée (M30) and I just got married two months ago and we had our dream wedding,” Reddit user throwaway_family9525 began their post before describing that the dream wedding in question involved pictures with a pair of cartoon mice without so much as a piece of cheese for the attendees.

“The cost to have both Minnie and Mickey for a good chunk of time (30 minutes) was almost exactly what our parents allotted for our catering budget, so we scheduled an appearance during our first dance and our wedding photos, forgoing served food (though there were PLENTY of facilities at the venue where people could eat…),” the poster wrote.

The poster was lamenting that family members later began grousing over the planned food expenditures being spent in that manner.

(While the post has been removed by Reddit moderators, it has been shared extensively already on social media.)

Answering questions in the comment section, the poster said that Mickey and Minnie did join the pair and their photographer for a “private lunch.” So apparently not everyone went unfed that day.

The thread had around 2,400 responses before it was closed, and many of those opinions were not favorable to the original poster.

“This is the social contract, people: you can have whatever kind of wedding you want, but your guests get to gossip about it as much as they want,” a user wrote. “You give them Mickey and Minnie instead of food, and you’re shocked they have opinions?”

Some commenters did question whether or not the situation was real, and the original poster did not answer those queries.
