A Florida woman who moved to Texas at the start of the year with dreams of becoming a social media influencer has found that dream tough to make reality.

“It’s mainly what I came to Houston for. That’s where most of all of my favorite YouTubers are from,” Kieria Jones told KHOU of her decision to leave Tallahassee and relocate to Houston.

Jones rented a car to get herself and her children to Houston but has no permanent means of transportation. She paid for the car rental by using disability checks she receives for her son, but her money ran out just as the weather turned dangerously cold.

Now she and her three children are homeless amid an arctic blast and dropping temperatures.

She initially paid for a motel room for her and her kids while working at a local Denny’s but says everything got to be too much for her.

No longer able to afford the motel, she called 911, and police brought her and her children to a local warming center meant to help the homeless survive the cold.

When Houston Mayor John Whitmire toured the facility, he met with Jones and helped get her placed with someone who could help her and her children get back on their feet when the warming center closed Wednesday.
