The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted in eight people being injured and one person losing their life on Saturday.
Chief Lawrence Revell said that “dozens and dozens” of shots were fired in the parking lots of a liquor store and restaurant Saturday night.
After shots were fired, police were notified, and responding officers ended up chasing the suspect into the parking lot of a third business.
Officers responded quickly to the shots fired as they were working crowd control for the Florida A&M University homecoming and the Florida State home football game.
Revell shared that the officer shot the suspect at least three times while pursuing him before he was taken into custody. The suspect did not have any life-threatening injuries from the shooting.
Two other suspects were detained in connection to the shooting, according to the department.
Revell shared on Saturday night that the investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted by the TPD Violent Crimes Unit.
