Chaos broke out at a Massachusetts movie theater on Saturday when an attacker entered the establishment and stabbed four girls, police shared.

The Braintree Police Department shared in a statement that the suspect got into one of the theaters at the AMC in the city without paying at around 6 p.m. and “without saying anything and without any warning, he suddenly attacked and stabbed the four young females.”

The department shared that the girls were aged nine to 17 and sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transferred to Boston hospitals.

The police are still investigating the attack but said that it “appeared to be unprovoked.”

After attacking the girls, the suspect who has not yet been identified, ran out of the theater and left in a black SUV.

Law enforcement said the same suspect may have been involved in a previous assault in Plymouth, Massachusetts, which was less than 30 miles from where the theater attack occurred.

The Massachusetts State Police were also involved in a car chase near Braintree, and after the vehicle crashed the driver was taken into custody.

Police have not confirmed if this suspect was the same as the one behind the stabbing.

The investigation remains ongoing at this point.
