“Somebody shot us,” said the voice of an Uber driver who picked up Guyanese social media star Teisha Brewley at around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

He told 911 operators that his customer had been shot near the corner of Lindbergh Drive and Adina Drive in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, Ga. Police shared the recording publicly Wednesday and confirmed that a female with multiple gunshot wounds had been pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities also released another 911 call coming from a service on behalf of a man who ordered the Uber for Brewley. He became worried when the Uber did not arrive as expected.

WSB TV said police believe the shooting to be a “targeted incident” and that the Uber driver told reporter Tyisha Fernandes that two cars followed him toward Lindberg Drive from the club and began shooting at them. Witness Johari Humbles, said it the incident looked like an ambush and neighbor Nic Taylor said the gunshots woke him up. Another witness said they talked to the victim’s brother at the scene.

“Turns out she only lives on the next block,” Humbles said. “So she’s less than a block away from home at that red light.”

According to WSB TV, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Brewley. Per the report, the victim worked at a strip club on Cheshire Bridge and was ambushed in the Uber, a black Cadillac Escalade, as she was leaving. WSB TV identified her as a Guyanese social media influencer.

Guyanese media outlet Starbroek News also reported on the incident and identified the victim as 30-year-old “Tisha Brodie” and said she goes by “Tavi Baddie” on social media platforms. An account under that name has more than 1,000 followers on TikTok.

Cox Media Group reported that there will be a candlelight vigil for the victim Thursday night.

An investigation into the incident continues, according to police.
