When it comes to television characters, arguably none are more iconic than Henry Winkler’s Fonzie from ‘Happy Days.’ The actor set the standard for portraying the cool kid in town, as many have attempted to emulate Fonzie’s swagger years after the show ended.
Now, Winkler is giving fans the chance to own a piece of ‘Happy Days’ history, auctioning off the iconic leather jacket he wore as Fonzie in the series.
Henry Winkler recently revealed there were only seven leather jackets used by Fonzie on the show; One is in the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, one was stolen, one was destroyed to during the “jump the shark” scene, two were owned by late Happy Days creator Garry Marshall, and two owned by Winkler. Now, Winkler is set to auction off one of his jackets as part of the upcoming “26-lot Henry Winkler Collection” auction.
“I had the urge for spring cleaning except that it lasted for a year and a half. I found 27 boxes and those boxes were filled with memorabilia from Happy Days to The Waterboy to Scream,” said Winkler. According to UPROXX, the auction will be held on December 8 at Bonhams Los Angeles. One lucky ‘Happy Days’ fan will soon be able to truly pull off that Fonzie look.
