It's not often in this cookie-cutter society that a truly historic and unique home comes up for sale, much less one for under six figures.

Around 70 miles southeast of Dallas, the 4,561 square foot Historic Bartlett House in Malakoff, Texas, is now up for sale for just $75,000, complete with three bedrooms, one bathroom, and a 1.83-acre lot. Too good to be true? Well, there are definitely a few catches.

First off, in its current state, it's reminiscent of something out of a 1950s horror movie.

Then there's the general condition of the 1930 house itself which, with vegetation growing through every orifice in this once decadent home's peeling façade, needs a little more than some tender love and care.

But what you may not get in in-tact glass or usable rooms, the property makes up for in history.

According to the listing on Realtor.com, this home was originally owned by an Acme brick plant owner and was: "Famous for its elaborate architecture, gardens and hosting rooftop dances."

Another fun fact somewhat related to this home is the fact that according to the Texas State Historical Association, in 1929 when quarrying for gravel to use in construction in Malakoff, a supposedly carved sandstone head was discovered - the first of three.

Known as the "Malakoff Man,' their legitimacy is debated to this day, although according to TSHA, one geologist believed it to be anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 years old, and carved by Paleo-Indians. Some have estimated it to be 3,000 to 4,000 years old due to its similarity to similar carvings by the Olmec civilization.

Others, meanwhile, debate its authenticity entirely, as reported by the Houston Chronicle.

Regardless, this story adds yet another layer of interest to this fascinating property.

As of April 5th, this historic property was pending a sale.
