Two journalists are in hot water after they were caught apparently cracking jokes about former President Donald Trump being assassinated.
The remarks were caught on a hot mic of a news camera that was set up to capture a live feed of Trump's arrival at the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., where a hearing on his criminal immunity appeal was held Tuesday morning.
According to Mediaite, the unnamed journalists were talking about getting a good shot of Trump from their vantage point when their conversation took a dark turn.
This is how the chat unfolded, per Mediaite:
JOURNALIST 1: You know what the worst part is? Even if he has his window open and he's hanging out of it, he will be on the other side of the street.
JOURNALIST 2: I mean, if he's driving, we've got a good shot!
#1: Yeah, if he's driving with the front window open?
#2: Yeah, or if it's a convertible?
#1: Yeah. I wasn't thinking about that.
#2: Yeah. Like if he just pulls up–
#1: Like JFK?
#2: (laughs)
#1: Maybe someone, just like they told JFK. You know what you should do? You should take a convertible! It's so nice out!
The hearing Tuesday morning lasted just over an hour as judges heard arguments from Trump's lawyers that his federal election interference case should be dismissed based on his claim of presidential immunity.
