Drone captures footage of what outdoorsman believes is Loch Ness monster [VIDEO]

After four days, a 62-mile paddling expedition, and two lengthy YouTube videos, British Outdoorsman Richard Mavor claims that he has captured drone footage of the fabled Loch Ness Monster.

Mavor, 54, raised 15,000 pounds for the Alzheimer's Society charity while on his long trip, which he posted to his YouTube channel, Richard Outdoors.

On the trip, Mavor claims that he saw the Loch Ness Monster of Scottish folklore. In an interview with the New York Post, he said that he knows the weight of his claim, but says he can't deny what he saw.

"The last thing I want to do is make a Nessie claim," Mavor told The Post. "I'm the most skeptical of people. But watching this, I think yeah, there's something a bit strange here."

The video depicted day three of Mavor's group's trip and around four minutes in it showed them pulling their canoes onshore near a remote spot on the south shore of Loch Ness.

Mavor sent up his drone and as it slowly zoomed in on the canoes a 14-foot-long watercraft appeared to approach the group, floating beneath the lake's tide.

A thin form just beneath the water's surface could be seen in the footage that was shot in August, and Mavor didn't know that he had caught it on camera until he posted the video on Sept. 1.

After a commenter noticed the strange creature moving towards the shore, the possibility of recording Nessy was brought to Mavor's attention.

At first, he thought it was just something with the light, then Mavor said he began to question what he was after examining.

"The more I watch it, I think, 'Crikey!'" Mavor said to the Daily Record. "There really wasn't anything in the area that could be."

He went on to tell the Post he "had to rewind and fast-forward several times." His group did not see any driftwood or other materials in the water.

"That's what's confused me. It's an inland water; you don't get tidal debris like you do on the coast," he said. "Things do wash up, but nothing the size of this."

Mavor is not the first to claim he saw the mythical creature. For hundreds of years, people have reported seeing an aquatic beast in the deep lake's waters.

While most video that captures folklore creatures tends to be blurry and out of focus, Mavor's is extremely clear and crisp, leaving viewers to wonder what exactly he saw.
