McDonald’s returns fan-favorite Quarter Pounder and launches new KIT KAT McFlurry

If you haven’t visited the Golden Arches in a while, now might be the time, as the fast food chain is bringing back one of its more beloved sandwiches, the Smoky BLT Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

In a press release on Monday, McDonald’s announced the return of the sandwich that first debuted for a limited time in 2022.

“Get ready to experience a sweet and tangy, savory and garlicy sauce that has a lingering smokiness,” the release says.

Starting on July 10, restaurant goers will be able to order the Smoky BLT Quarter Pounder with Cheese and Smoky BLT Double Quarter Pounder nationwide.

The sandwich features a fresh-beef quarter pounder patty, two slices of American cheese, three half-strips of Applewood Smoked bacon, tomatoes, and lettuce, all encased in a sesame seed bun.

The fan favorite is also topped with a smoky BLT sauce seasoned with “paprika, parsley, and black pepper.”

The move from McDonald’s comes as foot traffic at fast food restaurants remains low. In an effort to attract inflation-weary consumers, the company has offered a new $5 meal deal that includes fries, a drink, and a McDouble or McChicken.

With the new meal deal and the return of the BLT, McDonald’s is continuing its efforts to bring back consumers, something CEO Chris Kempczinksi has acknowledged would be a challenge this year.

“Eating at home has become more affordable,” Kempczinski said in February of rising food costs and losing consumers.“The battleground is certainly with that low-income consumer.”

The fast food chain also announced the addition of a new sweet treat, the KIT KAT® Banana Split McFlurry®.

The new McFlurry is made of McDonald’s “creamy vanilla soft serve, blended with real banana, strawberry clusters plus chocolatey, crunchy pieces of KIT KAT® wafer bars in every bite.”

Like the BLT Quarter Pounder, the McFlurry will be available at participating locations while supplies last, starting on July 10.
