In her first campaign appearance for Vice President Kamala Harris since the DNC, former First Lady Michelle Obama did not hold back, launching a barrage of attacks against former President Donald Trump.
The former first lady shared her thoughts on the election season, Harris, Trump, and more while speaking at a Harris rally in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Saturday.
Obama shared with the crowd that she was “frustrated” as she claimed that Trump supporters and undecided voters are holding Harris to a higher standard while ignoring the red flags of Trump.
“I hope you’ll forgive me if I’m a little frustrated that some of us are choosing to ignore Donald Trump’s gross incompetence while asking Kamala to dazzle us at every turn,” Obama said.
“I hope that you will forgive me if I’m a little angry that we are indifferent to his erratic behavior, his obvious mental decline, his history as a convicted felon, a known slum lord, a predator found liable for sexual abuse — all of this while we pick apart countless answers from interviews that he doesn’t even have the courage to do.”
She also criticized those choosing not to vote in this election, saying it shouldn’t be the case.
“I hope that you will forgive me if I am worried that we will blow this opportunity to finally turn the page on the ugliness once and for all. Because, believe me, if Donald Trump is president again at some point or another, that ugliness will touch all of our lives,” Obama said.
Obama continued, claiming that no matter who you are, if you aren’t rich or famous, Trump won’t care about you.
“It will not matter what you look like, how you worship, who you love, or how you vote — if you don’t make six or eight or 12 figures, if you’re not famous, if you criticize or disagree with him in any way, if he doesn’t view you as his equal or relevant to his ambitions. I promise you, he will not think about you when he gets into the Oval Office, and that will have real consequences for all of us.”
After Obama turned over the microphone to Harris, the vice president continued slamming Trump, including once again pointing to her time as a prosecutor, district attorney, and California’s attorney general.
“In those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds: creditors, fraudsters, and repeat offenders. I took them on, and I won,” Harris said. “Well, Michigan. In 10 days, it’s Donald Trump’s turn.”
