Earlier this month, 26-year-old Marissa M. Grimes was reported missing by the Arlington Police Department in Texas. She was found deceased this week underneath a Fort Worth residence.

According to the Fort Worth Police Department, patrol officers recently located a vehicle associated with Grimes’ missing person report from Feb. 12. Officers then discovered information that led them to the 5800 block of Locke Ave. and obtained a search warrant for the residence on Feb. 22.

“Officers located evidence that led them to believe that there was possibly a deceased person located in or around the residence,” said a press release from the Fort Worth police. “A deceased person was subsequently located underneath the residence.”

After the discovery, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office took possession of the body and on Feb. 25 identified the deceased as Grimes.

Valerian W. Osteen, 24, has been identified as a suspect in the death. He was previously arrested by Forth Worth authorities Jan. 9 for a domestic violence offense against grimes.

Osteen bonded out of Tarrant County Jail Jan. 13. An emergency protective order was issued that prohibited him from contacting Ms.
Grimes.

By Feb. 23, Osteen’s bond was revoked in relation to the January 2022 domestic violence charge. He was transferred to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office where he is currently incarcerated with no bond.

Additional charges are expected, said police.
