New M&M’s flavor has fans in a stir — would you try it?

For the first time since 2022, M&M’s has announced a new flavor, offering fans of the iconic PB&J sandwich the ability to enjoy the flavor combo in candy form.

Mars Wrigley, the manufacturer that makes the iconic candies, announced the new PBJ flavor earlier this month after weeks of speculation online.

Gabrielle Wesley, the chief marketing officer for the company, shared that the flavor is meant to “evoke the comforting experience of a classic PB&J sandwich.”

“Peanut butter M&M’s have long been a favorite among our fans, and we’re thrilled to build on that excitement with this new twist,” Wesley explained.

The flavor first debuted in 2009 as a promotional product for “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” but was discontinued in 2015.

But while the company says that the new flavor will take a “beloved, cross-generational staple and transform it into a delightful snack that’s perfect for sharing,” fans aren’t so positive online.

A Reddit discussion about the candies shows fans aren’t too enthusiastic about the flavor, with some claiming that “PBJ only works as the sandwich. Anything flavored like PBJ is usually gross.”

Others put their feelings more bluntly, saying, “F–k that,” or, “Absolutely not.”

Commenters also pointed out that the flavor isn’t technically “new,” as they pointed out the previous PBJ flavor released by M&M’s last decade.

However, not all was doom and gloom, as some online shared their excitement for the new flavor, including the popular food blogger Snackolator.

“I’m so excited for the PB&J trend to hit candy!” Snackolator commented on the maker’s social media.

The candy is expected to hit store shelves in December, according to the company.
