Congress is locked in a stalemate over immigration and WWL's Newell Normand says the current bill isn't worth the paper it's written on.
"When it comes to policy, is that where you want to be: something is better than nothing?" Normand asked, adding the bill would impact American financial priorities for years.
And, in his view, we don't need a big complicated bill with lots of complicated legal caveats. It could be plain and simple and say if you enter the country illegally at any crossing, you will be deported.
And the fact that hasn't happened yet, means 'somebody is benefitting from illegal immigration," Normand said, adding the bill 'isn't about you, it's about them.'
Without simplicity, we will continue to play a blame game with shifting sands while providing cover for the people who are benefitting, he said.
"If we are serious about this, it only takes two or three sentences," he said ... "Shut it down."
Instead, Normand said, Biden is expecting Mexico to do his job for him by expecting their Army to crack down at the border.
