A few days before Christmas, a pizza order in Florida set off a series events that left a victim bleeding in a hotel room from multiple stab wounds, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
While one suspect linked to the violent crime is in custody, law enforcement is still searching for another.
Authorities said that the victim ordered a pizza from a local restaurant on Sunday. Later that evening, a 22-year-old woman named Brianna Alvelo allegedly became upset about the tip she received and returned to the motel, police said.
She reportedly arrived armed with a knife – alongside an unknown male suspect who was armed with a firearm – and forced her way into the victim’s room, per a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office. Then, Alvelo began attacking one of the people in the room, stabbing them multiple times. Items were also taken from the room, the sheriff’s office said.
When deputies arrived at the Riviera Motel in Kissimmee, Fla., they discovered the victim, who was transported to a local hospital. As of Wednesday, the victim was in stable condition.
According to WESH, the victim is a woman who was stabbed 14 times and needed surgery for a ruptured lung. Her boyfriend told deputies that they were at the motel with her 5-year-old daughter to celebrate his birthday and that they ordered a pizza from Marco’s Pizza Shop that cost $33.10.
When the delivery arrived, the victim provided $50 and asked for change, per the outlet. Alvelo allegedly told the victim that she did not have change and the victim returned with smaller bills. She ended up tipping $2 – WESH’s report noted that Alvelo allegedly rolled her eyes at the tip.
It also said that Alvelo and the other suspect later knocked on the door and entered the room with masks. Alvelo allegedly broke the victim’s phone and her daughter’s Nintendo Switch, and attacked the victim as she tried to protect her daughter. Then, Alvelo apparently stopped her attack when the man with her told her it was time to go.
A manager at Marco’s Pizza Shop helped Osceola County sheriff’s detectives identify Alvelo, said WESH. The shop confirmed that she was making pizza deliveries that night and the manager said that Alvelo was thoroughly background checked before she was hired.
An arrest warrant was put out for Alvelo for the offenses of Home Invasion with a firearm, Attempted Murder, Kidnapping, and Aggravated Assault. Detectives arrested her Monday and she was booked into the Osceola County Jail with no bond. This incident is still under investigation.
“The male suspect has not been identified at this time. If you have information regarding this incident, please contact Crimeline at (800) 423-8477,” said the sheriff’s office Dec. 25.
